The Kabbes family from Effingham, Illinois established Tuscola Stone in 1969. They began site work in 1970 with production beginning in 1971. The company was founded with partners from the mining industry, but is now solely owned by the Kabbes family.

The operation has 18 miners that belong to the Operating Engineers Union #841 with experience up to 30 years.  They produce the materials with great skill operating several different heavy mining machines.  The miners also perform site maintenance using fabrication, cutting and welding, along with equipment repairs.

The company also has 3 office personnel that provide great customer service and quality control. We have 1 general manager with almost 50 years in the mining industry.  We also have 1 production manager with 25 years in the mining industry.

All employees live in or around the surrounding area.  The ‘small town’ attitude and work ethic has made Tuscola Stone Company successful.
